NEWEST INFORMATION IS AT THE BOTTOM.

There is a seller on eBay who is passing off bootleg Alice Cooper passes as the real deal. His user ID is: rockarola.com and his email address is: kleavitt@ev1.net. Keith Leavitt also has (had) a website full of bootleg stuff HERE.

I've noticed this seller posting auctions for bootleg Alice Cooper passes over the past several months. I first contacted him on May 15, 2003 to let him know he was selling bootleg passes. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt and do not place blame at first. What struck me as odd about these auctions, is this seller makes himself look like an authority on concert passes. He even goes so far as to give you explanations as to what the different types of passes there are and some 'history' behind passes. I found it odd that someone who acts as if they know a lot about passes, that they would be selling so many fake passes on eBay. If you look at his current auctions, you will see he sells DOZENS of fake passes. Anyhow, I emailed him on May 15 and here is what has transpired since then. My comments are in red, his are in yellow.

This is a foil pass straight out of the OTTO box. Foil passes were never duplicated as the process is way too complicated. My image looks weird because foil reflects light very brightly.

WRONG. once again, this design was NOT used for that tour.

This is a foil pass. Many of the foil passes were short-lived due to problems with heat in the lamination process.

If you can provide me with specific information on the pass it would be greatly appreciated. Just a repeat of your email claiming I am wrong has
no meaning. Also, many tours have different passes for the same tour. I have many such examples in the approximately 50,000 passes I own.

We have no interest in misrepresenting anything. However, this pass came out of the OTTO box and it was produced for the tour. The person I got it from actually toured with Alice Cooper for several years. If it was discontinued and replaced with something else is possible but I am not
aware of it.

So, please provide me with some proof of what you say or otherwise don't send me any more of your comments as they have no meaning.

One of my good friends toured for several years with Alice Cooper in the 70's. I don't have specifics of how each pass was used on what part of the tours. I do know that this pass was definitely produced for that tour. Whether they elected to use it or decided to go with another design is
not something I would ever know. The cost of setting up and producing one of these mylar foil passes is very high. They were not prototypes and I never claimed such. What I said is they did not use the foil passes for very long - but they did use them. They were not prototypes, just a
good idea that did not work out very well. I know absolutely it is not a bootleg pass.

if it is not a prototype, then it is a bootleg.

The cost of setting up and producing one of these mylar foil passes is very high so no one in their right mind would try to fake one of these.

it costs a lot of money to press bootleg cds (not cdrs) but people do that.

And, it did come from OTTO as do most of our passes. I think we are splitting hairs on semantics here.

incredible statement coming from a 'collector'!! it's not splitting hairs. it's called 'getting the facts straight.'

BTW - what was the "final design". Your "something similar but different" doesn't really tell me much. Do you have an image or maybe a link to one that I could look at.

the cloth passes had the same logo and image, but NO color. The tour all access laminte was different altogether. and NONE of them had 'staff' stamped on them.

Very professional of him, huh? I started to feel bad for the guy as it was obvious he had no idea what he was talking about! So now it gets even more interesting. This guy's supposed 'supplier' starts emailing me. This guy is also on eBay, well, he WAS on eBay. He is now unregistered, wonder why? He also has (had)a website HERE. On his website he sells promo photos of several different musicians. The minimum order is for lots of 100 prints! I'm sure he doesn't have that many authentic photographs on hand, which can only mean he is bootlegging those as well. Michael Valentine Smith's comments are in blue, mine are in red.

Wait a minute, I thought his 'attorney' advised him not to contact me any longer? None of my images came from his site. And even if they had, it would be legal under these circumstances. Michael Valentine Smith also brings up the issue of 'slander', slander would not be appropriate in this case. If he wanted to accuse me of anything it would be 'libel'. But, the definition of libel is as follows: A false publication, as in writing, print, signs, or pictures, that damages a person's reputation. Sorry, but nothing stated on this page is false, therefore; neither Keith nor Michael Valentine Smith have been defamed in any way.

To sum it up:

bootleg_alice_cooper_passHere is the Nightmare Returns pass.

Seller states this is a 'foil' pass. Alice did NOT use any 'foil' passes on any tours. And if this 'foil' pass is indeed real, it was some sort of prototype and NOT official! From the item's description: ALICE COOPER RARE NIGHTMARE TOUR PASS LAMIN. The cloth passes did had the same image, but had NO color and none of the passes had 'STAFF' stamped on them.

bootleg_alice_cooper_passHere is the Raise Your Fist and Yell pass.

Completely FAKE.

bootleg_alice_cooper_pass

Here is the Trashes the World pass.

Completely FAKE. Above both Michael Valentine Smith and Keith state this is a real pass. They are correct in saying that, however, the auctions indicate this is a real LAMINATED pass. That is NOT true. Michael Valentine Smith says "MAYBE THE GUY LAMINATED IT TO PRESERVE IT." Well, if the owner laminated it himself, that doesn't make it an official laminated pass, now does it? And this is directly from the auction's item description: ALICE COOPER RARE TRASH WORLD TOUR LAM PASS - LAMINATED PASS - this was a heavy duty pass that was typically laminated in plastic so that it would last for an entire tour.

bootleg_alice_cooper_passHere is the 'Fan Convention' pass.

100% not official. Michael Valentine Smith even states "...WAS USED FOR AN ALICE COOPER CONVENTION IN DETRIOT IN 1990." First of all, we do not believe this to be true, according to our very reliable sources (Alice Cooper's Archivist!) Second, if it was indeed for a fan convention, then it still would not be OFFICIAL. Michael doesn't seem to understand that. And this is from the auction's item description: ALICE COOPER RARE VIP LAMINATED TOUR PASS. On Keith's website he lists this pass as - TYPE: VIP TITLE/OTHER INFO: SNAKE - NIGHTMARE RETURNS
